SDS Dry Desulfurization - Hydrated Lime
SDS Dry Desulfurization (Sodium - Based Dry Sorption Desulfurization) is a mature all - dry desulfurization process that has been widely used in flue gas desulfurization in many industries at home and abroad. Its core is to use sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) as desulfurizing agents, which undergo chemical reactions in high - temperature flue gas to remove acidic gases such as sulfur dioxide (SO₂) from the flue gas.

Product Overview
SDS Dry Desulfurization (Sodium - Based Dry Sorption Desulfurization) is a mature all - dry desulfurization process that has been widely used in flue gas desulfurization in many industries at home and abroad. Its core is to use sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) as desulfurizing agents, which undergo chemical reactions in high - temperature flue gas to remove acidic gases such as sulfur dioxide (SO₂) from the flue gas.

| The SDS dry desulfurization technology has a wide range of applications, mainly including | Gas boilers and biomass boilers |
| Waste incinerators | |
| Coking furnaces and sintering machines | |
| Metallurgical industrial furnaces (such as iron and steel smelting furnaces and non - ferrous metal smelting furnaces) | |
| Chemical kilns and ceramic kilns | |
| Cement kilns and glass melting furnaces |
SDS Process Flow
Sodium bicarbonate is used as the desulfurizer. 600 - 800 mesh bagged ultra - fine sodium bicarbonate powder is transported to the plant and manually fed into the powder silo. A hopper is installed below the powder silo, and a variable - frequency controlled quantitative feeder is set below the hopper. Then, it is transported to the flue at the inlet of the bag filter by a conveying fan. In the flue, the flue gas and sodium bicarbonate are mixed and react at a high mass - transfer rate to remove acidic gases from the flue gas.
| Reaction Principle | 2NaHCO₃ = Na₂CO₃ + CO₂ + H₂O |
| Na₂CO₃ + SO₂+ 1/2O₂ = Na₂SO₄ + CO₂ | |
| Na₂CO₃ + SO₃ = Na₂SO₄ + CO₂ |
Advantages:
1.Desulfurization effect: The efficiency can easily exceed 95%. The concentration of sulfur dioxide emitted can be stably controlled at an ultra - low level, fully meeting the current strict environmental protection requirements. There is no need to worry about exceeding the emission standards.
2.Reduce troubles: Since it uses the dry method and basically no water is used throughout the process, there will be no desulfurization wastewater that is difficult to treat. This directly saves a huge amount of water treatment costs and avoids a series of subsequent environmental protection problems.
⚠️ Disadvantages:
1. Ultra - fine powder (particle size less than 35μm) needs to be used, which requires high precision for the grinding system and the injection system.
2. The consumption of the desulfurizing agent is relatively large, and the operating cost is affected by the market price fluctuations of baking soda.
3. By - product treatment: Although the by - products can be recycled, a small amount of desulfurization by - products are still produced, which need to be properly collected and treated.
4. Ultra - fine powder management: Baking soda powder is prone to absorb moisture and cake, so the storage and transportation conditions (such as heat preservation and heat tracing) need to be strictly controlled.
Due to its simple system, high efficiency, no wastewater, small footprint, and relatively low investment and operating costs, SDS dry desulfurization is particularly suitable for scenarios where space is limited, water is scarce, there are requirements for the exhaust gas temperature (to avoid white smoke), and for the treatment of flue gas with medium - low sulfur concentration. It has become one of the important technical options for the purification of flue gas from industrial boilers and kilns.
