The ridge-type demister is a gas-liquid separation device used in the flue gas desulfurization system. It can efficiently remove fog droplets through the ridge-shaped blade structure, featuring low pressure drop and high demisting efficiency.

Working principle: After the gas passes through the corrugated plate demister, it is basically free of mist. Through the curved channels of the demister, the droplets entrained in the gas flow are separated under the action of inertial force and gravity.
Design parameters: Demisting efficiency, system pressure drop (usually ≤150Pa or ≤120Pa), flue gas flow velocity (generally 3.5 - 5.5m/s), blade spacing, number of stages, flushing interval, etc.
Processed droplet particle size: It can effectively remove droplets larger than 3 - 5μm. The removal efficiency of droplets larger than 5μm is generally over 95%.
The ridge-type arrangement is also a common and efficient arrangement form.
Core advantages: Strong anti-clogging performance (especially suitable for gas phases containing trace solid particles and crystals), large operating flexibility (usually 60 - 120%), relatively low system pressure drop, and strong adaptability.
Application fields: It is widely used in wet flue gas desulfurization systems (such as the top of desulfurization towers), and in the purification of process gases and waste gas treatment in industries such as petroleum, chemical, metallurgy, and pharmaceuticals.
Differences from wire mesh demisters: A significant advantage of the baffle demister is its stronger anti-clogging performance. It is more suitable than wire mesh demisters, especially when dealing with gas-phase media containing trace solid particles or crystals. Although wire mesh demisters may have higher demisting efficiency in some cases, they usually have a larger pressure drop and are more prone to clogging.
Importance of the flushing system: To keep the channels of the baffle demister clean, prevent scaling and clogging, and maintain a low system resistance, it is crucial to be equipped with a regular and effective automatic flushing system. The flushing system usually consists of flushing pipes, flushing nozzles, flushing water pumps, etc. The pressure of the flushing water generally requires more than 200kPa. The nozzle angles are mostly selected as 90° or 110°, and the overlapping rate of the flushing water spray can even reach 160% - 200%.
With its high - efficiency separation ability, good anti - clogging characteristics, and low operating resistance, the ridge - type demister has become an indispensable gas - liquid separation device in many industrial fields, especially in wet flue gas desulfurization systems.
